China electronic patent examining system (E-examining system) has formally operated for one-week till February 24, 2010. During this period of time, the system was running smoothly and daily examining task was fulfilled in good order as usual. The application of the “E” system changed the traditional examination procedure of SIPO, which enable the Chinese patent office eventually become the so-called paperless office. This new equipped E-examining system covers all examining stage from application filing to invalidation. This project was launched in August, 2007 and completed at the end of 2009. A great amount of trail work was carried out before the initiation. It includes a large scale of user training、internal data testing、network-connection testing among 26 branch offices, etc. Approximately, a number of 9.4 million cases were registered into the database of this new system.
Besides, the applicants’ concerned patent E-filling system has been updated at the same time. The service scope of this filing system got expanded and more functions were added. The user-friendly interface becomes more convenient to applicants and to examiners as well.
It is said, the internal part of the searching system (‘S” system) operated inside SIPO is initiated at the same time, in order to better cope with the E-examining system. The public port of the “S” system is still under construction at present and will provide all around service to the public in the future.
Successful operation of these systems showed rapid development in computerized China patent examination system. It will befit the users and significantly speed up the examination process.
