Seminar on Pharmaceutical Patent Application in China, Europe and America, Wuxi, May 2010

The seminar on Pharmaceutical Patent Application in China, Europe and America successfully took place on 26^th-29^th May 2010, in Wuxi Jiangsu provenience. The seminar was organized by Intellectual Property Office of Jiangsu Province, China Pharmaceutical News and Wuxi Intellectual Property office and operated by Nanjing Jingwei Patent & Trademark Law Firm. Very important government officials attended the opening ceremony and gave speeches.

Foreign attorneys from Knobbe, Martens, Olson & Bear, LLP provided an overview of recent developments and trends on IP protection in U.S. including case studies on Branded / Generic Litigation issues. Moreover, the attorneys from Witte, Weller & Partner (Germany) shared their expertise on how to draft pharmaceutical patent application for filing with the EPO and IP strategy in pharmaceutical industry. A comprehensive comparison between EPO and German IP System was covered by Germany attorney from Isenbruck Bösl Hörschler Wichmann LLP. And relevant topic on PCT filing tactics was brought by senior lecturer form SIPO. Those interactive presentations were followed by a one-to-one question and answer session in every evening.

There were about 130 audiences from pharmaceutical enterprises and local law firms joined this seminar. It enhanced the understanding of IP protection of pharmaceutical industry of Jiangsu provinces and strengthened the ability to exercise their legal rights.
